Teatro Paraguas Summer 2011 Youth Ensemble presents 'A Fork in the Road', a collaboration of Santa Fe youth experienced in theater. Youth written, youth directed, and youth produced! We will be presenting four original one-act plays with musical interludes, featuring our marvelous youth cast. Our core directors/playwrights (Tommy Roman, Jessica Lopez, and Raphael Aviles) have a vision and a message. And that is, we DO have a purpose in this world. We can do anything if we put our minds to it. But, decision making comes along with achieving.
The four original one-act plays are:
'I Wore Flannel Today', by Jesse Koehler, directed by Miguel Chavez:
Hardwell's Institute for the Insane ran out of room for their patients. So we began to stick our patients through fences.
'40 Years', written and directed by Tommy Roman
Matthew McDowell is a mentally unstable man who has been imprisoned for the past 40 years for a crime he didn't commit. But, he learns a thing or two when young man, Jeremy Brown becomes his cell-mate.
'The Gentle Truth', written and directed by Raphael Aviles
Isaac is on a journey though Buddha's way and finds himself dependent on others to end his one man journey of suffering.
Indication, written and directed by Jessica Lopez
Indcation explores the muddy definition of what indication is:
\ˌin-də-ˈkā-shən\- The display of an idea rather than the embodiment of the idea.
The ensemble features Tommy Roman, Jessica Lopez, Raphael Aviles, David Tran, Anton Terrell, Clay Balsamo, Alli Rosales, Joseph Romero, Andrew Peterson, and Austin Shipp onstage, and Kassandra Rosales, Charine Gonzales, Franchesca Tharpe, Melissa Guthrie, and Miguel Chavez providing technical support.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm, opening
Friday, July 8 and closing Sunday, July 17. Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for seniors and students. For reservations and information please call 424-1601 or visit www.teatroparaguas.org.
